Faith in the North’ aims to engage and resource Church and Community primary and secondary schools across the Northern Province through encouraging children and young people to explore the ChristianChristian Name originally given to disciples of Jesus by outsiders and gradually adopted by the Early Church to designate all members of the church. Faith through the stories of the past, particularly the Northern Saints.

We invite you and your school to explore the importance of the people, places, and rich heritage of the North. 2027 will see the 1400th anniversary of the baptismBaptism The Sacramental rite of admission into the Christian Church. Online Webinar to hear about resources for your school around the themes of Pilgrimage & the Northern Saints

Join our webinar to hear about newly developed resources from the team at Faith in the North and various partners.

These free resources include:

  • A set of collective worship resources entitled “PilgrimPilgrim 1. In the New Testament and Christian thought, someone engaged in the Christian journey through life towards heaven. 2. Someone who journeys to holy places (such as biblical sites or shrines of the saints) to seek God's help, to give thanks, or as an act of penance Pathways”
  • A new resource for school visits to churches giving children an interactive experience as they explore the building.
  • A new song from the team at “Songs for Schools”
  • A newly developed resource “Light from the Past, Hope for the Future” helping children to explore the Northern Saints

The Lord’s Prayer Journey

Faith in the North has released the first of its Boxsets of resources for use in schools. The “Lord’s Prayer Journey” includes a series of 7 collective worship sessions, a custom song from “Song for Schools” helping to teach the Lord’s Prayer, a teachers guide, and more.

Faith in the North will run over the next three years delivering a series of “Boxsets” of resources on the following themes:

2025: The Lord’s Prayer, helping young people explore how the Lord’s prayer can be a model for living well.

2026: Pilgrimage, developing an understanding of life as a journey of exploring faith through the ancient practice of pilgrimage. 

2027: Baptism, using the 1400 year anniversary of the baptism by Bishop Paulinus of King Edwin, the first King of Northumbria to profess the Christian faith to help teach about baptism.
