Ways to Engage
The Lord’s Prayer is some of the most familiar language in the ChristianChristian Name originally given to disciples of Jesus by outsiders and gradually adopted by the Early Church to designate all members of the church. faithFaith 1. Belief and trust in someone or something. 2. Acceptance of particular religious teachings.. As well as something we pray it is also something that is intended to shape how we act.
Faith in the North hopes to encourage and resources churches across the North of England to explore the Lord’s Prayer as a way to live and also as a pathway for people to explore the Christian Faith.
This might be through accessing some of the high quality resources below in your church, joining with Thy Kingdom Come in the lead up to PentecostPentecost Also called Whit Sunday. Seventh Sunday after Easter. The Jewish Feast of Weeks (harvest). Day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples (Acts 2). or through coming to a Lord’s Prayer Tour evening somewhere near you.

Thy Kingdom Come
Thy Kingdom Come (TKC) is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know JesusJesus (Greek form of Hebrew 'Joshua' meaning 'Yahweh [God] is salvation') Also given the title Christ, meaning 'anointed one' or Messiah. His life is recorded mainly in the Four Gospels although he is also mentioned by the Jewish historian Josephus (c. 37-c.100) and the Roman historian Tacitus (c.110)..

Small Group Resource
Just before teaching them the prayer we know as the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus told his disciples that God knows what we want before we ask him (Matthew 6:8).
So why pray at all? Perhaps it’s simply this: we don’t know what we want. Therefore, the Lord’s Prayer is best understood as learning what to want. Which also means that the Lord’s Prayer is a pattern for life as well as a pattern for prayer.
This small group resource encourages you to explore the Lord’s Prayer together over five weeks with videos, discussion questions and suggested ways you can respond in your lives.

Faith in the North is pleased to share the release of a thought-provoking new short film exploring the enduring significance of the Lord’s Prayer.
Set in the stunning landscape of the North-East, this 7–8 minute film interweaves the faith of Northern Saints from the 7th century with the lives of Christians today.

Song for Choirs or Choral Settings
Lucy Walker, a young composer who has previously written music for the Choir of York MinsterYork Minster Popular name for the cathedral and metropolitan church of St Peter in York. Seat of the Archbishop of York, the cathedral was established in 627 by St Paulinus as a baptistery for King Edwin. The present building contains elements of the Norman cathedral of Archbishop Thomas of Bayeux, but dates largely from the 13th-15th centuries., was commissioned by Faith in the North to create a new choral music piece inspired by The Lord’s Prayer. Specifically written for cathedralCathedral (Latin cathedra' throne') Church which contains the throne of the bishop and hence the mother church of the diocese services and for choirs, the composition features two arrangements: one for choir and organ, and a simplified version for choir and piano. This versatility makes it accessible for a wide range of worship settings.

The Lord’s Prayer Tour
During 2025 and early 2026, Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell is undertaking a tour across the North of England, sharing the meaning and significance of the Lord’s Prayer as part of a shared “Faith in the North” initiative.
